Mash with summer vegetables for babies 6 months and later

Mash ingredients with summer vegetables i

  • 1 small size gum zucchini
  • 1 small carrot
  • 1 tablespoon fresh peas
  • 1 tablespoon oatmeal
  • 1 teaspoon finely chopped dill
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1.5 cups of water

Preparation

Zucchini, carrots are washed and the outer surface is peeled and diced. Oatmeal, vegetables and oil are cooked together with water. It will be cooked over medium heat in about 15 – 20 minutes. About 5 minutes before removing the heat, finely chopped dill grass is also added to it. The cooked food is crushed with a fork. It is brought to the consistency of a mash. If it is too solid, some breast milk, boiled cooled water or diluted bottle food for bottle-fed babies can be added. Served warm.

Note: Meals with breast milk or bottle food should be consumed on the same day and should not be given to the baby the next day. So if you just add breast milk or bottle food to your baby's plate instead of adding it to the whole puree, you can keep the rest of the puree in the fridge for the next day.

If you do not have oats at home, you can use a small amount of rice instead.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Enver Mahir Gülcan's note:

Zucchini is a vegetable that contains quite juicy potassium, sodium, vitamin A, vitamins of group B, vitamin C. It is also rich in fiber. This beautiful vegetable, which has a long season until the end of September as of May, is often used in baby nutrition. It is a wonderful vegetable for preventing constipation in children. In order not to lose the nutritional values in the zucchini, it should be used after purchase, if possible, on the same day or within 3-4 days. Using it in a short time helps prevent the loss of vitamin C. Since vegetables lose their vitamin value while cooking, it is ideal to cook fresh food daily by shopping as much as possible.

These vegetables spend a lot of time until they reach us from the field, do not keep them in the cupboards on the roads. When it comes to oats, it helps strengthen the immune system with its beta glucan content. When you use oats for yourself, eating them coarsely will prolong your satiety period. But we don't give it to the baby that way. Oats must necessarily be of such a consistency that the crushed diluted baby can swallow comfortably. Otherwise, it may stick to its throat etc. as soon as it happens, blocking the airway. The same goes for dill, thoroughly cooked and crushed must be softened so that the baby does not sink into his mouth or throat.
